• Description text goes hereAn escape room is an immersive gaming experience in which your group must work together to solve the puzzles and complete the adventure before time runs out. Each room has a thematic story, and as you complete objectives, you progress the story forward to hopefully escape.

  • Yes, escape rooms are one of the best things to do in Portland, Oregon. For over a decade, Portland Escape Rooms has created immersive and engaging escape rooms that tell powerful stories and turn you into the hero. Explore our escape rooms to find something for you and your group.

  • Portland Escape Rooms has two locations with 9 unique rooms.

The Beaverton location is at 10700 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy, Suite 118, Beaverton, OR 97005 near Uwajimaya with ample parking.

The Portland location is located at 1836 NE 7th Ave, Suite 108, Portland, OR 97212. There is plenty of 2-hour street parking.

  • At Portland Escape Rooms, each escape room has a different player capacity.

You can also look through our pricing table to see what escape room might be best for your group.

  • While you typically have 60 minutes in an escape room, the whole event is about 90 minutes. This allows for 15 minutes of signing waivers and hearing the rules from your game moderator and 15 minutes of debriefing after the event.

  • At Portland Escape Rooms, our prices vary depending on the size of your group and the specific room, but it is generally between $30-45 for an average group. The bigger your group, the cheaper the cost is per player! See our escape room pricing table for a detailed breakdown.

If you book on weekdays (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays), Portland Escape Rooms runs a $20 discount on the total room cost. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to hear about other discounts including our 30% off gift cards for Black Friday.

  • Most of our escape rooms are not meant to be terrifying. Most rooms may be immersive and spooky but they do not have jump scares.

One exception is Kidnapper’s Revenge, our horror themed room. This room is designed  to be quite creepy with tight spaces and a portion of the experience requiring you to be restrained and in the dark.

  • Some of the puzzles in our escape rooms are meant to be difficult, but you don’t need advanced science or math skills to succeed. Collaborate and communicate with your group, and don’t be afraid to ask your moderator for hints along the way when you get stuck.

  • Our best escape room advice is to search carefully and communicate with your group. You’ll need to work with each person’s unique strengths to solve the room in time. And don’t be afraid to ask your game master for a hint when you get stuck.

  • Our escape rooms are mostly designed for adults, but some of our rooms are great for kids aged 8 and older to help with the puzzling experience. Any child under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult, and if younger children would like to join they must be carried or have their hand held throughout the game.

Some rooms do have an age requirement though. For example, no child under the age of 15 will be permitted in Kidnapper’s Revenge. Please check each room's participant capacity and age appropriateness before booking.

  • Yes, our escape rooms are a great birthday event for some kids aged 8 and older. However, it is worth noting that all our escape rooms are designed for older teens and adults.

Though there may be content that is appropriate and accessible for a younger child to take part in the game, it will be difficult for a group of children to solve without adult assistance. We require one adult chaperone to be present for kids under 15, but the younger the children, the more adults we recommend to increase the chances of escape!

  • We don't have a dedicated party room, but there are several places nearby both locations that would be great for a birthday party.

  • Escape rooms for team building and other groups are a fantastic bonding experience. Depending on the size of your full group, we can split you into multiple rooms at the same time to host up to 57 participants in Beaverton and 35 in Portland. Email us details about your event at least 2 weeks in advance and we can help get you scheduled!

  • If we have availability, we will gladly take walk-ins. However, it is highly encouraged to book an escape room reservation in advance. Feel free to contact the Beaverton location or the Portland location to check availability.

  • You should plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled escape room event to allow time for bathroom breaks, waivers, and rules. If your group is late, we will either have to reschedule your booking, or begin deducting time from your 60 minutes to stay on schedule.

  • We offer a 5-minute grace period after the escape room start time for groups that are running late. After that, we will begin deducting time from your in-room timer. If you are waiting on a group member, it is up to you to decide whether to wait for your teammate and take the time penalty or begin on time without them. If groups are unreasonably late, the game will be cancelled. We do not typically offer refunds for late guests or no-shows.

  • Not really! In case of emergencies you will always be able to have a clear exit, and your game master will be watching in case anyone needs help. But there are elements to the room that will be locked until puzzles are solved.

  • For most of our rooms, there are enough wide open spaces that guests who might be claustrophobic don’t have a problem. However, some rooms, like Kidnapper’s Revenge, currently include tighter spaces so the most claustrophobic participants might avoid that experience.

  • All of our escape rooms are private events, meaning you will only be in the room with your party. In some of our rooms, the game master will be in the room with you.

  • You only need to bring your best wits and puzzle-solving ability. All items needed for solving the puzzles will be included in the room.

  • Cell phone use in the escape rooms is not permitted. Don’t worry, there will be time afterward for your game master to take a group photo for you.

  • You are welcome to do the room more than once, but the puzzles will only change if the room theme is changed. We periodically redesign or build new puzzles into a room, so even if you’ve done one in the past, you could have a new experience.

  • If you can’t solve the puzzles in time, your moderator will unlock the room and debrief with you. Even if you don’t escape in time, that doesn’t mean you failed! If you enjoyed working together with your group on the engaging puzzles, we consider that a win.

  • If you can’t make it to the event, please contact us to reschedule. There is a rescheduling fee of $10 per person. We typically do not allow refunds for no shows.

  • We understand that emergencies happen. At any point you can ask the moderator to unlock the door and let you leave. You can talk with our staff about rescheduling your game if you’d like.

  • Yes! We are always eager to hear your suggestions. We’re also open to collaborate on larger projects if you have skills to provide or desires to build an escape room. Contact us with your suggestions, proposals, and pitches.

  • Generally, the answer is no. But if you want to make a special argument, feel free to contact us.
