How many people can play at the same time?
It depends on the room. From 2 to 6 people can play together for our Kidnapped! or Voodoo rooms. For American Revolution, ARCADE, Steampunk Airship, and Trapped In a Room With A Zombie 4 to 10 people can play at the same time, but large groups can request to increase that limit to 12 people by booking the whole room and contacting us to raise the limit. (Oct 2017 Update: American Revolution cannot be increased beyond 10 people)
Can we add a 7th person to the Kidnapped! room?
The Kidnapped! room accommodates 2 to 6 players. It is now possible to add a 7th person if you book the whole room. To do this, book all 6 spots and then contact us to open the extra spot. email@example.com
How long does it last?
Each event lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes a 15 minute introduction, 60 minutes in the escape room, and a 15 minute walkthrough after the event.
Is it scary?
The rooms are not meant to outright scare you. The Kidnapped! Room is meant to be quite creepy, has tight spaces, and for a portion of the experience you will be restrained and in the dark. The Zombie room is intense and you will be pursued by a zombie, but it is well lit. The Voodoo room is spooky but not very scary. The American Revolution, Steampunk Airship, and ARCADE rooms are meant to be challenging but not scary at all.
Are there jump-scares?
None of our rooms have jump scares. These are not haunted houses.
How old do you have to be to do the escape rooms?
It depends on the room. The Kidnapped! room is designed to be a little creepy and is recommended for ages 15 and up. Trapped In A Room With A Zombie can be *intense* but has been enjoyable for ages 15 and up. The American Revolution room has difficult puzzles but can still be enjoyed by those 10 and up. The ARCADE room is appropriate for ages 8 and up. In all the rooms, minors will need to bring a waiver signed by their parent/guardian. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 8 will not be permitted unless you have purchased all the tickets for the event. We do not provide childcare.
I'd like to schedule a special time for my work group/family/team builder. Is that possible?
Yes, we do occasionally schedule special events outside of our regular business hours but they must meet the following criteria: only groups of 8 to 49 participants; all special events run at full price ($30 per person); special events must be requested at least a week in advance to ensure proper staffing. E-mail us with all relevant information, including the date and time you are interested in, and we will check availability.
Do you take walk-ins or do we need to schedule in advance?
We do not take walk-ins. All escape room events must be scheduled online in advance. If you don't see an event time that suits you, you can trying emailing us to make arrangements for a special time/date.
Can I observe a room?
Generally the answer is no. But if you want to make a special argument, feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If we don’t book all the slots, we will be playing with strangers?
There is always the possibility. All the participants will be on the same team.
How early should we arrive for our game?
You should plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the scheduled event.
Am I really going to be locked in a room?
Yes! But not really. Each room has a way to get out that is unlocked in case of an emergency. Furthermore, there will always be a game master watching you in case your group needs assistance.
My 'friend' is claustrophobic. How big are the rooms?
This has not been a problem. Our smallest room is larger than a child's bedroom and is over 150sf. The Kidnapped! room has been renovated September 2017 and currently includes tighter spaces so the most claustrophobic participants might avoid that room.
Will there be other people in the room with us?
If you don’t purchase all the tickets for the event, other people might be put on your team to help escape. Depending on the room, there may be an actor in the room with you.
What should we bring with us?
You only need to bring your best wits and puzzle-solving ability. All items needed for solving the puzzles will be included in the room.
Are cell phones allowed?
Cell phone use in the escape rooms is not permitted. The use of electronic devices or outside tools are not permitted and you will immediately be asked to leave if you attempt to use them.
How much does it cost?
It is $30 per person in these events: Kidnapped!, American Revolution, Voodoo, Trapped In A Room With A Zombie, and ARCADE. Steampunk Airship is $35 per person as it is a larger, more involved event with more content.
Do I need to be a rocket scientist to solve the puzzles?
Some of the puzzles are meant to be difficult, but you don’t need advanced science or math skills to succeed.
Can I do the escape room more than once?
You are welcome to do the room more than once, but the puzzles will only change if the room theme is changed. And we don’t want you spoiling the puzzle-solving fun for others on your team that might be doing it for the first time. Note that we have redesigned and renovated the Kidnapped! and American Revolution rooms. So if you did those rooms prior to September 11th 2017, then it is reasonable to come back and do them again as 90% of the puzzles have changed.
What happens if we don’t escape in time?
At the end of 60 minutes, the moderator will unlock the room.
What if we can't make it to our event?
In rare instances, rescheduling far in advance may be allowed. Rescheduling too close to the event date may incur a fee.
What if something comes up and we need to leave?
At any point you can ask the moderator to unlock the door and let you leave. You will not, however, be allowed back in the room.
I have a great escape room idea. Do you take suggestions?
Yes! We are always eager to hear your suggestions. Furthermore, we are also looking to collaborate on larger projects if you have skills to provide. We might also have a space to sublet you if you want to build your own escape room and run it at our next location. Contact email@example.com with you suggestions/proposals.
